Pemayetv Emahakv Charter School exists to provide students, parents, and the Brighton Community with a rigorous student oriented education that is infused with the Seminole language, culture, and history. Our school is designed to preserve Seminole traditions in a safe, nurturing learning environment.
OUR SCHOOL, OUR WAY
FOR CHILDREN PRE-K THROUGH 8TH GRADE
Located on the Brighton Seminole Reservation in Glades County, Florida, Pemayetv Emahakv “Our Way School” fosters pride in academic achievements while developing the students’ abilities in the Creek Language and Seminole Culture.
CULTURE
Culture was the major determining factor in the decision to build PECS. All students in grades Pre-K through 5 receive daily instruction in the Muskogee Creek Language and receive instruction once a week in Florida Seminole Arts and Crafts. Students in grades 6-8 receive fifty minutes of Muskogee Creek Language instruction daily as well as education in Florida Seminole Arts and Crafts once a week. Students in grades 7 and 8 are able to earn high school foreign language credits in Muskogee Creek I and II, which satisfies their foreign language college requirement.
